Aveea International STEM Competition 2025

We’re excited to share this year’s Aveea International STEM Competition 2025, a brand-new annual initiative designed to spark creativity, collaboration, and STEM thinking in primary school pupils aged 5–11 across the world.

This year’s challenge focused on a real-world engineering problem:
How can we transfer water from one place to another safely and efficiently?

From ancient aqueducts to modern pumping stations, engineering has always played a vital role in ensuring communities have access to clean water. Our goal was to help pupils explore how simple materials, clever thinking, and teamwork can solve big problems.

Schools were invited to design and build a model that could transport 250ml of water across a set distance without spilling! The results were incredible. Pupils experimented with ramps, cards, sponges, and bridges, and came up with great ideas. Their creativity, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm truly stood out.

A Big Thank You

We wanted to begin by saying a huge thank you to all the teachers and schools who submitted their students’ entries. The children did an amazing job, and it was wonderful to see the imagination and engineering thought that went into every design.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our judges:

  • Geovanni Usher – Civil Engineer in the Water/Wastewater Sector

  • Shauna O'Brien – Head of Science at Pearson Education, UK Schools Product Development

Your time, expertise, and thoughtful evaluation played a vital role in celebrating the pupils’ hard work.

We received entries from many schools, each one unique and full of character. Every model told a story of teamwork, experimentation, and hands-on learning.

Final Results

After reviewing all submissions, we’re pleased to announce the top three teams:

🥇 1st Place: St Saviour’s School – Group 3 (UK)
🥈 2nd Place: Chestnut School – Group 1 (UK)
🥉 3rd Place: Chestnut School – Group 2 (UK)

Congratulations to all the winners – and to every pupil who took part!

Have a Go Yourself!
